Member Spotlight: The Samuelson Family

Meet the Samuelsons!

In this edition of our Member Spotlight, we're thrilled to introduce the Samuelson family, a close-knit group that loves the outdoors and being together.

Meet the family:

The Samuelsons' story is one of shared achievements, pursuits, and building family bonds. The Samuelsons have all lived together in the Buckhead area for the last 14 years their children will all be graduates of the Atlanta Public School System.

Matt and Kari Samuelson, both engineers from Georgia Tech, met while studying in Oxford, England. They just celebrated 25 years of marriage with a return trip to Oxford. Matt and Kari have 3 children. Matt grew up primarily sailing, boating, and skiing but during college realized his deeper love of the outdoors and for the past 30 years has focused on hunting and fishing. He primarily loves open bird, big game and fly fishing. He travels to Montana 2-3 times a year for hunting and fishing, and he's part of a group of brothers who annually embark on international hunting adventures. Although he travels a great deal for hunting and fishing, he is always amazed by the simplicity and power of local deer hunting. “It can steal you away so easily for hours….great dedicated time, focused energy and a shared goal. It has been a great way to build relationships with my boys.” Kari, a tennis enthusiast, wonderfully humors her family in their outdoor pursuits.

When not together as a family, their children are pursuing their own interests. Matthew (23), fueled by a passion for History, is set to further his studies at the University of Nottingham in the UK; Ben (21) is making a strategic move from the University of Kentucky to North Georgia College to be closer to home; and Anna (18), a senior in high school, has secured her place at Rhodes College, leveraging her exceptional Lacrosse skills.

Passion for the Outdoors:

Although already very prominent in their family, during Covid and with the interruption of school/work, they were able to spend more time together and were brought closer together through Hunting, Fishing, and the outdoors. This ultimately led them to Bohanon Farms.

Life is hectic, and being a full-time travel agent for hunting pursuits can be challenging. The Samuelsons love that Bohanon Farms is a safe, well-managed, and thoughtfully envisioned haven for their outdoor adventures. It is hard to find balance and Bohanon is a great fit and lifestyle opportunity for our family long term. Bohanon also opened the doors for Matt to share in his daughter’s love of the outdoors. Anna is often busy traveling for her love and dedication to sports, which has limited her ability to go on the more distant hunting trips with her family. Given Bohanon Farm’s proximity to home it has given them a way to bond together in nature. The Samuelson’s see Bohahanon as an authentic intermediate to the usual options, where you often feel run through and pushed from beginning to end.

They see Bohanon Farms not just as a club but as a future home base for generations of their family to come—a place for gatherings, fun activities, and shared goals. It's all about "Fun, fires, fields, and a fishing pole." A recent highlight for the Samuelsons was when a friend got their first buck. Being able to create lifelong memories at Bohanon is a blessing.

We're excited to have the Samuelson family as part of our community and look forward to sharing more of their outdoor adventures and family moments at Bohanon Farms.
