TURKEY SEASON CURRENTLY IN FULL SWING
Signs and activity indicate we have a plentiful population of Eastern turkey species at Bohanon Farms. Stay tuned for action shots as our members and guests try their hands at this elusive bird!
Coweta County boasts a thriving population of Eastern wild turkeys, making it a prime destination for hunters during the spring season. Turkeys can be found throughout the county's diverse landscapes, from wooded forests to open fields.
During the spring mating season, male turkeys, known as toms or gobblers, engage in impressive displays of strutting and gobbling to attract females. Witnessing this natural spectacle is a highlight for hunters and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
Turkey hunting has a rich tradition in Georgia, with many families passing down skills and knowledge from generation to generation. It's not just about bagging a bird; it's about connecting with nature and preserving a cherished heritage.
Understanding turkey behavior is key to a successful hunt. Hunters often use decoys, calls, and camouflage techniques to lure turkeys within range. Patience, stealth, and a good understanding of turkey habits can make all the difference.
Community Connection: Turkey hunting season at Bohanon isn't just about the thrill of the hunt—it's also a time for community bonding and camaraderie. Whether sharing stories around the campfire or participating in local hunting events, hunters form tight-knit bonds that last a lifetime.
